Try one from the 1980′s.
When the hero wasn’t just a good guy because of what side he chose to fight for, he was a good guy because he fought for the things he believed in; truth, justice, and the American way. Some super hero’s came from another planet and so they had an idealized idea of how a person should behave. They didn-t smoke, or do drugs, never cursed around women. they were polite, and respectful and not too proud to save a kitty from a tree. You can find a quick rundown here
These older movies are great to watch because there-s a part of us that wants to cheer for the good guy who isn-t complex, with emotional baggage, and a dark, and stormy past. Sometimes people want to cheer for the good guy because he-s good, something that they can aspire to. The Super hero movie takes us back to that innocence of the 1980-s, where we weren-t so burned by lying officials, high taxes, and celebrities behaving badly.
Unlike many hero-s today, who are seen taking justice into their own hands, super hero’s back then worked with the law. These movies were during a time, when people still believed that the law was still out to help the weak and defenseless. Most super hero movies today, are about a broken system and sometimes the lines between good and evil are blurred beyond recognition.
Hero’s back then believed in justice, but not at any cost. The super hero would catch the regular bad guys and instead of beating the tar out of them, he would hand them over to the police and let them take over the punishment. For villains who weren-t human, if they wanted a fight they got it, the hero wasn-t afraid of a fair fight and would often give it.
